Since I’m an introvert it’s probably no surprise that I love reading. And for the past 10 or so years I’ve had a thing for business books in particular.

But… actually prying myself away from work to read has ben a different story lately. The book I start has to be very good to be finished. This year I’m going to be pickier about which books I start, and I’m hoping to finish most of the books I crack open. In other words, in 2017 I need to be be really selective with the books I choose.

Here are the 8 business books I’m planning to read in 2017, in no particular order:
1. Dotcom Secrets by Russel Brunson. Whenever I see a post in a Facebook group about entrepreneurial book recommendations, this is on that list. I also see it mentioned a lot in Facebook groups for entrepreneurs. I figure it’s finally time to read it.
2. Launch by Jeff Walker. Ditto above. I hear about this one A LOT too. And I’ll be launching an awesome training very soon on being visible for my fellow introverted entrepreneurs, so this book is high up on my list of books to read sooner rather than later.
3. Customer Persuasion by Cloë Thomas. Cloë wrote a blog post here on Introvertology last year about Why books are a great marketing tool for introverts. She’s a nice person who really knows her stuff, so I’m looking forward to learning from her.
4. Do Story: How to tell your story so the world listens by Bobette Buster. I went to a workshop/talk by Bobette last year (or was it two years ago?) and she was brilliant. Social media is largely about storytelling, so I’m looking forward to reading more of her brilliant insights and thinking about how I can use it to help grow my and my clients’ brands.
5. How to Win Friends and Influence People by Dale Carnegie. A classic! I hear about this book so often, and I need to finally sit down and read the whole thing this time. I’m hoping I just wasn’t in the right frame of mind the last time I tried.
6. Difference: The One-Page Method for Reimagining Your Business and Reinventing Your Marketing by Bernadette Jiwa. I got the audiobook of this last year, started listening to it, and loved it! I have no idea why I didn’t finish it, so this is definitely high on this list.
7. All Marketers are Liars by Seth Godin. I’m a big fan of Seth Godin’s blog and videos (and I’ve watched many interviews with him), but haven’t actually read many of his books. From the description of the book it seems to mainly be about how people buy because of stories, not facts. Something that I know logically, but I’d love to implement more in my marketing.
8. Pre-Suasion: A Revolutionary Way to Influence by Robert Cialdini. Science-based business strategies? Yes, please! Robert Cialdini wrote the very popular and influential book Influence about why people are persuaded to do things, and this is a prequel of sorts about what to do before you deliver your persuasive message.

Will you be reading any of these business books, or do you have other entrepreneurial books that are on your top-8 list?
